MIAMI, FL – May 12, 2020 - IMC Health Medical Centers has launched biweekly, bilingual Facebook Live events to help seniors stay informed and connected amidst Covid-19. Named “La Ventanita” (the little window), after the restaurant-café windows notorious throughout South Florida as a place where people go to drink cafecito and chat with others. The events also offer a place for seniors to stave off isolation and have fun connecting with their peers, physicians and guest speakers.
"We know everyone is scared and has lots of questions during this pandemic,” said IMC Health’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mayda Antun, first host of La Ventanita. "That’s why we decided that La Ventanita would be a great platform for people to ask their questions and receive advice directly from our team of medical professionals and guest speakers, without having to make an appointment."
The recurring virtual event is fully bilingual and, although it is mostly targeted to seniors and their families/caregivers, it is open to the public. IMC Health invites everyone to grab a cup of coffee, or cafecito, at home and join one of its medical experts every other Friday at 10 a.m. via Facebook Live on its Facebook page, Facebook.com/IMCHealthMC.
IMC Health is planning to bring in various experts to cover a range of topics - from entertaining classes on fitness and nutrition to more serious topics like Alzheimer’s, diabetes and other medical conditions. Guests are encouraged to submit their questions on the chat to be answered live and listen to topics previously requested on the comment section of recent posts.
During its inaugural event on May 1st, more than 800 people joined in to watch and participate. Questions ranged from how to clean personal protection masks to how to get the most out of a virtual medical appointment.
